In observance of Memorial Day weekend, there is no evening service tonight and the church office will be closed tomorrow, May 25th.

VBS 2009: This year's theme is LifeWay's "Boomerang Express: It All Comes Back to Jesus" (1 John 4:9).

• 4 year olds through completed 5th graders will meet Monday-Friday, June 22nd-26th from 9:00am-12:00pm.
• Completed 6th through 8th graders will meet Monday-Wednesday, June 22nd-24th from 9:00am-12:00pm.
• Registration is now open and will close on Sunday, June 14th. Complete a registration card or register online at www.lawndalebaptist.org. VBS assistants are needed! If you're interested in serving, please sign-up at the VBS depot in the main lobby.

Paid Childcare: We occasionally use paid, screened people for various events requiring provision for preschoolers and elementary children. Additional persons are needed in our pool of workers. Applications can be picked up from Carol McKinney in the church office at 288-3824.

Marriage & Parenting Seminars: Please register with Jennifer Wilson at 288-3824 at least a week before the event. If childcare is needed, please indicate the child's name and age. 

• Parenting 301- The Journey With an Adolescent: June 20th from 9:00am-12:00pm.

ETB Teacher Training: Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00pm in Room 217. Background issues for the next unit of Galatians will be discussed. 

Activities

Captain's Choice Golf Tournament: Saturday, June 6th at 9:00am at Crooked Tree Golf Course. The cost is $35. Anyone interested should register today with your $35 fee. Contact Jimmy for details.

Summer Basketball League: Sign-up sheets are in the LJG folders for classes who want to sponsor a team in this summer's basketball league. the deadline for team entries is June 14th. games will be played on Monday evenings beginning June 22nd through July 27th. A tournament will be held the first week of August.

Ohio Amish Country Tour: The registration deadline is July 26th with a $50 non-refundable deposit due at that time. Details of this three night trip, hotel accommodations, and itinerary can be picked up outside Jimmy Jackson's office or by calling the church office to speak with Jimmy.

Additional Announcements

LifePlus Course Submissions: The fall semester begins on Sunday, September 13th. If you are interested in leading a class, please fill out the pink card in your LJG folder, see Curt Dean, or come by the church office to pick up a form to submit your topic for consideration. All course submission forms are due no later than July 12th.

Children's Learning Center: The Children's Learning Center still has a few openings for the 2009-2010 school year. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please contact Ann Johnson at 282-4177 for more information.

Share the Change: Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center offers compassionate care to women and men affected by pregnancy, including the concern of current pregnancy or the grief of a previous abortion. We have empty baby bottles around various entrances in the church lobby. Please pick up a bottle and fill it with our spare change to help support this ministry. You may give coins, cash or checks (made out to GPCC). Please return your filled bottles to the church on Father's Day, June 21st. 

Operation Outreach: Meet in Room 216 on Sunday, June 7th at 4:00pm.

Adopt-A-Banquet: Emily Franco has joined the LBC support staff as our new Special Events Food Service Coordinator. We are looking to recruit new volunteers to help with this ministry. A sign-up sheet is in your LJG folder again today. As a class, please be sure to choose at least 3 events and 1 will be selected for your group to support. Typical duties would involve: setting the tables with appropriate decorations and utensils, serving food, and some food prep (ex: slicing desserts, etc.). This usually involves 2-3 hours of your time. Several events have already been "adopted." Thanks to everyone for helping in this ministry!

Wednesday Supper Reservations: We encourage all of our members who eat Wednesday Night Supper to make a reservation by Noon on Tuesday. If you are on the permanent list please call the church office or fill out the form on the Sunday bulletin on the weeks that you will NOT be attending. We encourage families whose schedules are less predictable, due to work or other activities, to make a weekly reservation rather than staying on the permanent list. If you are on the permanent list and haven't been attending regularly, please consider calling in each week instead. This will help LBC to remain a good steward of our resources by preparing the proper amount of food without having excess or shortage. Please inform the church office of your decision by calling 288-3824. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

David has performed on cruise ships and at churches for years. His show is endorsed by master magician, Lance Burton! David has also served as a Children's Pastor at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Louisville, KY for over 25 years.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: June 12th-14th. Spend an incredible weekend in Baltimore, Maryland and enjoy a baseball game at Camden Yards between the Baltimore Orioles and the Atlanta Braves. The cost is $175 per person for adults and $50 per person for children. Price includes 2 night's lodging, game and transportation on our new bus. Meals are extra! Registration deadline is Sunday, May 10th, with a $25 per person deposit. Contact Jimmy for more details.

Attention CDL Drivers: The Transportation Committee is putting out a call for additional drivers for the new church bus who have their Certified Driver's License (CDL). If you have one now or would be interested in obtaining one, please contact Van Duncan at vantd@bellsouth.net or 545-0950. Thank you for your consideration with this important ministry opportunity.

1. April 25: Class Bowling Social! Come join us for a fun evening of bowling at Brunswick Triad Lanes (off Wendover, across the street from Carmax). We will meet at 6:30pm. You can eat dinner before you come, or get a snack there at the lanes. If you have not signed up and would like to attend, please contact Misty or Km so they can make sure we have the right number of lanes!
