William Bradshaw McManus

William Bradshaw McManus was born Thursday, February 7th at 8:14 am. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 21" long. Mom, Dad and baby are all doing very well! Our thoughts, prayers and congratulations go out to David and Kim! Kim is at High Point Regional and will be leaving to come home tomorrow. (Saturday) We will have a sign up sheet for meals starting next Saturday, February 16th. Once the sign up sheet has been passed around our class, I will post everything online so that the "Walking Together" class will have an opportunity to sign up as well! Hopefully we'll have some pictures of Will on here soon!

SOUPer Fun!

I think it is safe to say we all had a great time at our first SOUPer Bowl Party! It was great seeing everyone, having wonderful conversations and fellowship, fantastic food, one of the best Super Bowl Games we've seen in a while, and of course, some friendly competition! Speaking of friendly competition... CONGRATULATIONS to Kim McManus for scoring the most points for the ladies and David McManus for scoring the most points for the gentlemen on the Super Bowl Quiz! (Shall we say... conspiracy?) I'm sure you're simply dying to receive your stellar prizes!! Have no fear... you'll be getting them soon.

I know the main question running through everyone's mind was, "Poor Gisele Bundchen... Will Tom Brady supply you with a ring that your model-thin arm can support when the Patriots win the game?" Well ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to report the answer to that question was "NO!" (I say this as someone who was pulling for the Giants first of all, and secondly, all in good humor!)

Thanks to everyone who brought soup, chips, dip, veggies, cake, etc... Our stomachs thoroughly enjoyed all of it! Eli Manning may have been named MVP of the Super Bowl, but Marc and Lauren Holbrook take home the coveted name of MVP for the SOUPer Bowl. Yes, everyone was excited to chow down on the great food prepared, but everyone was even more excited to chow down on COLD STONE ICE CREAM!

Thanks again to everyone for coming!

Attention FELLAS!...

Gentlemen... There is something about to begin at Lawndale that I hope each of you will seriously consider...

The new JourneyMEN ministry will be starting things out February 28th at 7pm in the CLC for ages 18 and up. It has been described as a ministry "designed for those who need fellowship with other men, accountability, encouragement & support as they journey through life"... (and also for men in need of barbeque.)

Seriously though, I don't think there is anyway around the fact that strong leadership from today's Christian men is GREATLY lacking. Something like JourneyMEN can be a great tool God can use in making us more the husband, father, brother, son, friend, co-worker (and so on...) that Christ calls us to be! I have certainly felt a tugging to at least check this ministry out Feb 28th, and I just wanted to pass along a reminder and some encouragement to you guys to consider it as well.

Thanks! Matt.
