Announcements: April 17, 2011

Class News
  • Our LJG will NOT meet this Sunday (Easter Sunday). Please come prepared to worship the resurrection of our Lord at either the 9am or 10:30am service. More than likely, the church is going to be very crowded, so allow extra time for parking and finding a seat. LJGs will be available for babies - older 4s.
  • Women's Bible Study: Will meet Monday, May 2nd, at Priscilla's house. Please complete week 7 in the workbook before we meet.

Easter Schedule: Join us for a Sunrise Service at Country Park at 6:30am followed by a light breakfast in the Fellowship Hall at 7:15am. No Adult LJGs will meet, only LJG/ETC for babies - 4s will meet. There will be identical Worship Services at 9am and 10:30am. No PM service/activities will take place.



Children
VBS: June 20-24, 9am -Noon. For rising Kindergarten through completed 5th grade. Registrations are available in the WC Lobby or online.

Students
411: Meets Sundays at 6:15-7:15pm. High School- Chapel; Middle School- Room 361.
Fusion: Meets Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the Chapel.

Activities Ministry
Teams for the 2011 spring soccer season have been formed. We are still in need of coaches in all age groups. Games will now begin April 30th and end June 4th. If you have not been contacted by a coach, your child is currently without a coach. Please pray about coaching your child's team. Contact Jimmy if you are interested.

Operation Christmas Child- Year Round: Our highlighted items for April: Paper, coloring books and coloring materials (crayons, markers, colored pencils, pencils, etc.)
Share the Change: Pick up a baby bottle this Sunday in the main lobby. Fill it with coins, cash or check (written to GPCC) and return it by Mother's Day, May 8. All proceeds will benefit the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center.
Book Sale: St. Francis Episcopal Church (across the street) will hold their 53rd Annual Book Sale May 5-7, 2011. Hours are: Thursday and Friday: 10am-1pm. All proceeds will benefit the needy in our community and around the world.
Teaching Children & Youth Literacy Workshop: May 12-14, 2011 at Lawndale Baptist Church. Thursday and Friday, 6-9pm. Saturday, 8am-5-pm. This workshop will provide tutoring techniques and information to adults tutoring children and teens through a church setting. The workshop will be led by NAMB certified leader, Kathy Boyd. You will receive a certificate for the 14 hour course. The cost is $20. Contact Carla Pless, 282-9459, for registration information.

  • The title of next week's lesson is Knowing the Truth. The background passage for Sunday is Colossians 1:1-20. The lesson passage for Sunday is Colossians 1:3-20. Before Sunday, please take a moment to prayerfully read through the passage to prepare for the lesson.

Spring Training: For Preschool Leadership- Saturday, April 30, 9am-12:15pm. Lunch and childcare are included.
VBS Help Needed: We have Lead Teachers but need Assistant Teachers. Volunteer Forms are located at the Welcome Desk.
ETC Staff Needed: We have a slightly different schedule on Easter Sunday, April 24. All 4th Sunday scheduled ETC staff is needed at 10:30. Note that both 9:00 and 10:30 services will be primarily the same. ETC staff can attend worship at the 9:00 service. Life Journey classes will meet for Babies through Older Fours. Pre-K, Kindergarten, Elementary, Student and Adult LJG groups will NOT meet.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel 6 that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace. 7 You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant,[a] who is a faithful minister of Christ on our[b] behalf, 8 and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Announcements: April 3, 2011

Class News
  • The title of next week's lesson is Never Let Up. The background passage for Sunday is Philippians 4:1-23. The lesson passages for Sunday are Philippians 4:1-9, 11-13, 15-19. Before Sunday, please take a moment to prayerfully read through the passage to prepare for the lesson.
  • Women's Bible Study: Will NOT meet this coming Monday. We will continue the study on April 18th at Priscilla's house.
  • Class Lunch: Our LJG will meet at Bur-Mil Park after church on Sunday for a picnic in the park. Bring your own lunch, play clothes, frisbee, etc. Looks like the weather will be beautiful!
  • April 16th: Egg Hunt & Cookout at the Holbrook's house! More details to come!

Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity

1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!

2 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.

Final Exhortations

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:15-19

15 Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; 16 for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. 17 Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. 18 I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
