Attention LADIES!...

She & Me Tea

Saturday, May 10
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the CLC

Tickets are $5 - on sale in the church lobby through May 5
For childcare reservations, call Carol McKinney 288-3824 ext. 303

I think this event will be a great time of fellowship not only for the women at our church, but even more so for the women in our Life Journey Group. We're still a fairly new LJG and I believe this event will help strengthen our friendships and relationships with each other.

Here's the plan... Hats and gloves are encouraged at this event, and I say we take it one step further. If you're plan to attend, come wearing a personalized hat. You can make your hat out of paper (if you're an origami enthusiast) or buy a hat from the store. Either way, personalize your hat with things that represent your life and things that are important to you. (pictures, bible verses, etc.) Be creative!!! The personalized hats will be a source of great conversations among our LJG and other women at the tea as well.

If you have not already, stop by the desk in the lobby to purchase your ticket! If you would like to attend, but will not be in church on May 4th to buy your ticket, please let me know and I would be more than happy to pick it up for you! Also, if you plan to attend, let me know so I will know how many seats to reserve for our LJG. I'm really looking forward to this event and I hope that you are able to come!

Just another evening of gum, tennis balls & frozen t-shirts

This evening our Finding Common Ground LJG met up with the Walking Together LJG for a cookout, games, fun and fellowship. The kids got to enjoy playing with each other on the nearby playground. The bigger kids (husbands) got to enjoy throwing a frisbee and football around with each other. The women enjoyed talking and socializing with each other throughout the evening. Everyone enjoyed eating all of the great food and desserts that were prepared for the event!

We also got to watch or participate in three crazy games tonight. The first game was presented with the title of "Who can get dressed the fastest?" Three people from each LJG were given an article of clothing and the team with all members dressed first, won! The participants were not notified that the t-shirts they had to put on were soaked in water, rolled in a ball and frozen SOLID in a freezer. Several clever attempts were made to melt the frozen shirts:

Body warmth and running water were two of the first ideas used to try and melt the ice. Nice try fellas!

While Jason tried pulling the frozen shirt apart with his teeth, Tonia attempted melting the ice with FIRE!

We decided to let the shirts thaw out a bit and move on to our second game of the evening. This game was presented as, "Who has the biggest brain?" Each person had to put panty hose (with a tennis ball in the foot) over their head. If that wasn't funny enough, each person had to spin their panty hose and tennis ball in circles over their head in hopes of interlocking it with the panty hose and tennis ball of the person on the opposing team. The goal was to pull the opposing person's panty hose off of their head first, without using hands. The Walking Together class managed to win this game, hands down. I'm not sure if that necessarily means that the Walking Together Class has bigger brains, or if it proves that your head gets bigger with age!

Congratulations, Jason, for being the first person to melt and put on your frozen t-shirt.

Walking Together and Finding Common Ground battled it out for the title of "Most Artistic Class" for the final game of the evening. We had five minutes to chew as much gum as possible and then sculpt it into something creative. The Walking Together Class made Wilson, from Castaway. Finding Common Ground stuck with our LJG morning lessons as we sculpted Joseph and his coat of many colors. Sadly, the artistic masterpieces were thrown away before I could capture their magnificence with my camera. I did however, manage to take this picture to remind everyone how disgusting the $6 tub-o-gum from SAM's club tastes!

We hope everyone had a great time and we look forward to combined Life Journey Group socials in the future!
