Announcements: March 30, 2008

Class News:
  • Thanks David, on a great lesson this morning! The background passages for next week are: Genesis 37:1-38:30. The lesson passages for next week are: Genesis 37:2b-11, 17-20, 28.
  • The Bereavement Committee sent a sign up sheet to all Life Journey Groups this morning about providing meals for families on occasion at church. The committee is looking for people who would be able/willing to bring a meal to families who are not members of a Life Journey Group or are a member of a more 'elderly' LJG. The sign up sheet had to be turned back in with the class folder this morning. If you are interested in providing occasional meals for grieving families at Lawndale please e-mail Melissa and she'll get your information to the Bereavement Committee.
  • If you would like your name, phone number and e-mail address added to the 'Blog Directory' let Matt or Melissa know!
  • Our next class social is Saturday, April 19th. Check out the post below for all the juicy details.

Promoter News:

Married Adults
Operation Outreach: meet in room 215 for room assignments on Sunday, April 6 at 4 p.m.
Leadership Summit: All coordinators and teachers should meet in the Chapel on Sunday, April 20 from 5-6 p.m. to evaluate the first half of the church year and share future plans.

Activities
Upward Spring Soccer: spaces are still available for soccer. The fee is $80 per player. Call the church office at 288-3824 for availability. Contact Jimmy Jackson if interested in being a coach or official.
Golf Tournament: The "Irish Four Ball" Golf Tournament will be Saturday, May 3 at Crooked Tree Golf Course. The cost is $25 per person. You need to arrive by 1:30 p.m. and start playing at 2 p.m. The registration deadline is Sunday, April 20. Registration forms are available outside Jimmy's office. Put payment under his door.

Lawndale Servant Week
Saturday, April 12 - Saturday, April 19 will kick off our 1st annual Lawndale Servant Week! This will be one full week dedicated to mission opportunities by serving others in the immediate and surrounding Greensboro area. Sign up your entire family one or more days to help with construction, carpentry, plumbing, lawn care, painting, cleaning, etc. Also, please submit names of persons or families who have needs with which we can help. Contact Bill Bailey, Roger Dodson, Tony McGrady or Larry Cullen. Sign up cards are available at all welcome desks and in the church office.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
You can still give to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions! Lawndale's goal is $25,000!

April Social

Join us for our next Class Social!!

When: Saturday, April 19th @ 5:00 p.m.

Where: Bur-Mil Park, Shelter 2

Our class will be enjoying fellowship with the 'Walking Together' Life Journey Group... you know, the "Old Guys." KIDDING! We'll have ultimate frisbee, bocce ball and a jungle gym for the little ones to play on. Come prepared to participate in several competitive games between the two classes:
  • Who can get dressed the quickest?
  • Who has the biggest brain?
  • Which LJG is the most artistic?

Class News:

Activities:
Upward Spring Soccer: If you did not receive a registration form for Upward Soccer, contact Patty Ghering at 288-3824 ext. 320. Evaluations will be held Monday, March 17, Tuesday, March 18 & Thursday, March 20. The deadline to register is Thursday, March 20.
Easter Sunrise Service: Sunday, March 23 at 6:30 a.m. at Country Park. Following the service, breakfast will be served in the CLC. In case of rain, the service will be held in the Chapel.
Family Whitewater Rafting Trip: August 1-3 on the Nantahala River in NC. The trip includes 2 nights camping, 2 breakfasts, one dinner and rafting. Cost is $60 per adult and $30 per child. Ages 7 and up are eligible. A $25 deposit is due on or before June 29. Registration forms are available outside Jimmy's office or in the church office.

Vocal Freedom Seminar: Thursday, April 24, 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, 8 a.m. to Noon. This seminar is designed for ANY and ALL singers middle school through senior adults. You do not have to have any previous vocal training. This seminar will offer six hour of ways to change old, engrained habits of improper singing with practical demonstrations and guidelines. Cost is $25 in advance and $35 at the door.

Married Adults:
Marriage 201: Purpose for the Journey- Saturday, March 15, 9-12 in the chapel. Participation in this class will lead to a greater understanding of the roles within marriage as husband and wife.


Activities:
Soccer Coach's Meeting: There will be a meeting for all returning coaches as well as anyone new desiring to coach Upward Spring Soccer on Monday, March 10 at 7pm in room 232.
Easter Sunrise Service: Sunday, March 23 at 6:30am at Country Park. Following the service, breakfast will be served in the CLC. In case of rain, the service will be held in the chapel.

Sacrifice Sunday

Rodney Navey is calling this Sunday, March 9th, Sacrifice Sunday. It's Daylight Savings and typically this Sunday has one of the lowest attendance records in churches Nation wide! Let's make it our goal to have the highest attendance record yet, for our Life Journey Group!! Breakfast/fellowship time is from 9:15-9:30 and the lesson will begin right at 9:30. Make sure to set your clocks one hour ahead before your head hits the pillow tonight.

Music Ministry:
Media Volunteers - More volunteers are needed in the Media Projection Ministry. We will train you! Call 288-3824 if you are interested.


Married Adults:
Operation Outreach: LJG Members are encouraged to participate in reaching out to our community. We will meet in room 216 at 4 pm TODAY for assignments.
Sacrifice Sunday: On March 9, you will set your clocks forward one hour. Will you sacrifice (go the extra mile) to be in class? Help your class reach its highest attendance so far this year.
