Announcements: October 9, 2011

Class News
  • The title of next Sunday's lesson is It's All About Certainty. The background passage for the lesson is Romans 8:1-39. The lesson passages for Sunday are Romans 8:9-17, 26-32. Before Sunday, please take a moment to prayerfully read through the passages to prepare for the lesson.
  • Men's Bible Study: Will meet this Thursday, October 13th, 6:30am, at the Chick-fil-A in the Brassfield Shopping Center. All men are welcome.
  • Upcoming Dates:
    • October 10th: Chick-fil-A Spirit Night for Operation Christmas Child (more details in LBC News)
    • October 14th: Class Social/Outreach Project: Our class will go to the Western Guilford High School Football Game (game starts at 7:30pm, plan to meet there at 7pm). Before the game, the men will have a chance to go into the locker room, speak to the players/coaches and lead them in prayer. As a class, we will also be putting together bags to give to each of the players (most likely filled with fruit, water, snacks, etc). More details to come!

Women's Ministry

Women's Mission Groups:
  • Evelyn Frost WMU meets Tuesday, October 11th at 10am at the home of Donna Navey. Anyone wanting to ride together, meet in the church parking lot at 9:30am.
  • Jean Phillips WMU meets Tuesday, October 11th at 10am in Room 232.
  • Alita Blackmon WMU meets Tuesday, October 11th at 7pm in Room 217.
Women's Fall Small Group Bible Studies are available. A complete list with dates, times, locations and facilitators is available on our website.
Candlelight Coffee is Back! Friday, November 11th in the CLC. 7-9pm. Tickets will go on sale for $5 in the lobby or online in October.

Student Ministry
5th Quarter Nights in the CLC: (8:00pm-12:00am) Open to all 6th-12th grades Friday, October 14th. Cost: $5 and bring your own drink.
411 Has Resumed: Sundays at 6:15pm. Middle School meets in Room 363 and High School meets in the Chapel.

Activities Ministry
Fall Spectacular: Monday, October 31st, 5:30-9:00pm. Sign up sheets to volunteer will be in your LJG folders. We are now collecting candy to be distributed that evening. Containers will be located in the collection area on the first level of the church.

Children's Ministry
Operation Christmas Child Boxes: Information brochures are available in the main lobby. All boxes need to be returned by November 13th.
Married Adult Ministry
Parent/Child Dedication: For all parents participating on October 16th, a class will be held on the CLC stage at 9:15am.
Homeschool Support Group: Next meeting will be Thursday, October 20th in the Fellowship Hall. Eta Zeta, the honor society for local homeschoolers, will have a membership meeting from 6:20-6:50pm, then the speaker, Elizabeth Lamb will begin at 7pm.
Weekend to Remember: October 28-30th. Go to http://www.familylife.com/ to register for this annual marriage event held at the Koury Convention Center. When registering, use Lawndale Baptist as your group code to get a discounted rate.
Worship & Music Ministry
Christmas Production: iBelieve Saturday, December 10th at 2 & 6pm and Sunday, December 11th at 4pm. Tickets are $5 and Premium Seating will be $7.
Additional Announcements
Children's Learning Center Book Fair: Monday through Friday, October 10-14 from 9:15am until 1:15pm in the Children's Wing.
Food Service News: We are looking for volunteers to help out with serving Wednesday Night Meals and other Special Events. If you are interested, please contact the church office to sign up.
Chick-fil-A Spirit Night for Operation Christmas Child: Monday, October 10th @ the Chick-Fil-A on Pisgah Church Road and Thursday, November 17, 5-8pm.
Operation Christmas Child - Year Long Collection - October Items: Hygiene items, all ages, boys and girls. Suggestions: tooth brushes, dental floss, chap stick, tooth paste, bar soap, magic towels, hair brushes, combs, barrettes, hair ornaments. Did you know? The recipient of each box is offered a gospel booklet. The Greatest Gift of All, printed in his own language or native dialect and his family is offered an opportunity for following up after reading it.
