Announcements: January 16, 2011

Class News
  • Jeremy, thank you for a great lesson! The the upcoming lesson is, Sick of Greed? The background passage for the lesson is 2 Kings 1:1-5:27. The lesson passages for the lesson are 2 Kings 5:14-16, 20-22, 24-27. Before Sunday, please take a moment to prayerfully read through the passages and prepare for the lesson.
  • Due to our SOUPer Bowl Party on February 6th, our class lunch will be moved to the following Sunday, February 13th.
  • Men's Bible Study: Will meet this Friday, January 21st at 6:30am at Chick-fil-A (in the Brassfield Shopping Center). Rodney will be leading the study through Genesis. Please bring your Bible. All men are welcome!
  • Women's Bible Study: Will begin meeting Monday, January 24th, 6:30pm, at Priscilla Martin's house (6709 Poplar Grove Trail). We will be working through Beth Moore's, "Breaking Free" (2009 Edition). Our first meeting will be an introduction, so you do not need to complete the first week in the book. A schedule of our meeting dates are on the left side of the blog.
  • 4th Annual SOUPer Bowl Party!: Sunday, February 6th at 6pm. Please remember to bring cans of soup to donate to The Food Pantry at church. Also, please remember to bring one 2 liter drink with your food! Click here for more details.

Lawndale's Website

Bring the entire family for an evening of worship and great music! Ronnie Freeman Concert at Lawndale Baptist Church. Thursday, February 3rd at 7pm. Cost: FREE! IN addition to solo appearances, Ronnie has opened shows for Michael W Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and others. He is currently touring with Phillips, Craig & Dean.

On February 11-12, 2011, Lawndale Baptist Church will be hosting "The Art of Marriage", a conference sponsored by Family Life (Dennis Rainey). Register online at http://www.familylife.com/. Early bird cost is $45 per couple. Call the church office if you need childcare.


Students
411: Meets Sundays at 6:15-7:15pm. High School- Chapel; Middle School- Room 361.
Boot Camp Weekend: April 8-10. Open to all 6th-12th grade students. Registration begins online and in the lobby February 6th.
Student's Superbowl Party: Sunday, February 6th, 5:30pm. Students please bring $5 for food. 11th & 12th grades hosted by Brian & Suzie North at 6090 Clopton Road (Please RSVP to norths@gcsnc.com). 6th-10th grades hosted by Jeff & Kathy Hargett at 6845 Spencer Dixon Road (Please RSVP to gett6799@bellsouth.net).
Scholarships Needed: If you would like to make a donation to the Student Ministry to assist our students in attending various ministry events, pleas designate funds to "Youth Scholarship" and bring it to the church office. Thank you for supporting our students!

Activities
Above the Rim Basketball: Schedules have been posted on the church website. .IN case of inclement weather for practices or games, check online after 4pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday, or call 288-3824, ext 315 for a message. We are still looking for officials and scorekeepers for Above the Rim K-6 basketball. If you are interested, please contact Jimmy Jackson.

Married Adults
Operation Outreach: Sunday, February 6th at 4pm. Meet in the library for assignments.
Every Man's Battle: 8-week men's study will begin February 13th from 5-6pm.

Additional Announcements
Inclement Weather Policy: In case of inclement weather, please check with WFMY (Channel 9), or our website, http://www.lawndalebaptist.org/ for delay or cancellation information regarding Lawndale church services. For Senior Adult luncheons and Weekday Preschool, we will follow Guilford County School closing schedule.
Assistance Needed: A family in our church is in need of someone, possibly 2 people, to share the responsibility of transporting their 4-year old son to preschool in the Horsepen Creek 7 Carlson Dairy area. Please call 288-2810 or 215-9081 for more information if you are interested. The family is willing ot pay someone for this service.

Greeting Card Collections: Bring your old, used Christmas, Birthday, or any occasion cards to the Collection Center on the first floor near the drink machines. They will be used in children's mission projects.
Lost & Found: Many items have been left in various locations around the church. There are many coats in our Lost & Found located in the hallway between the elevator and the Chapel. If you have misplaced an item, please check the Lost & Found.
Shepherd's Shelf: The Shepherd's Shelf Food Pantry needs to be restocked. A detailed list of items needed is located at each Welcome Desk and at the Collection Center on the 1st floor. Thank you for helping with this ministry.
Bahama Cruise: Enjoy a September cruise to the Bahamas. September 26-October 1, departing from Charleston. Visit Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas. Cost of $699 includes bus transportation to Charleston. Rates are per person, based on double occupancy. Payments can be made up to July 7 with a deposit due soon. Email Arvil Pennington for an information sheet at apenni3111@aol.com
Weekday Preschool Registration: For currently enrolled families and church members for the school year 2011-2012 will begin at 9:00am on Monday, January 31, 2011 through Friday, February 4, 2011. As some of the age groups have limited enrollment and registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis, it is advised that you register early. Registration forms may be picked up on Wednesday, January 26th at Ann Johnson's office (room 368).
