Class News
  • Billy, thanks for a great lesson this morning. The title of our next lesson is Danger! Unbridled Passion. The background passage for the lesson is 2 Kings 9:1-10:36. The lesson passages for Sunday are 2 Kings 9:16, 21b-22; 10:15-19, 30-32. Before Sunday, please take a moment to prayerfully read through the passages and prepare for the lesson.
  • Due to our Super Bowl Party on February, 6th, our class lunch will be moved to the following Sunday, February 13th. Location TBA.
  • Men's Bible Study: Will meet this Friday, February 4th at 6:30am at the Chick-fil-A (in the Brassfield Shopping Center). All men are welcome!
  • Women's Bible Study: Will NOT meet this coming Monday. We will meet again on Monday, February 7th, 6:30pm, at Priscilla Martin's house (6709 Poplar Grove Trail). Please complete week 1 in the "Breaking Free" workbook before we meet!
  • 4th Annual Super Bowl Party!: Sunday, February 6th at 6pm. Please remember to bring cans of soup (or other non-perishable items) to donate to The Shepherd's Shelf at church. Also, please remember to bring one 2 liter drink with your food! Click here for more details.

Lawndale's Website

Bring the entire family for an evening of worship and great music! Ronnie Freeman Concert at Lawndale Baptist Church. Thursday, February 3rd at 7pm. Cost: FREE! IN addition to solo appearances, Ronnie has opened shows for Michael W Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and others. He is currently touring with Phillips, Craig & Dean.


On February 11-12, 2011, Lawndale Baptist Church will be hosting "The Art of Marriage", a conference sponsored by Family Life (Dennis Rainey). Register online at http://www.familylife.com/. Early bird cost is $45 per couple. Call the church office if you need childcare.

Students
411: Meets Sundays at 6:15-7:15pm. High School- Chapel; Middle School- Room 361.
Fusion: Meets Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the Chapel.
Boot Camp Weekend: April 8-10. Open to all 6th-12th grade students. Registration begins online and in the lobby February 6th.
Student's Superbowl Party: Sunday, February 6th, 5:30pm. Students please bring $5 for food. 11th & 12th grades hosted by Brian & Suzie North at 6090 Clopton Road (Please RSVP to norths@gcsnc.com). 6th-10th grades hosted by Jeff & Kathy Hargett at 6845 Spencer Dixon Road (Please RSVP to gett6799@bellsouth.net).
Scholarships Needed: If you would like to make a donation to the Student Ministry to assist our students in attending various ministry events, pleas designate funds to "Youth Scholarship" and bring it to the church office. Thank you for supporting our students!
Equipping Parents to Transition from Childhood to Teen Years: This class will meet on Sundays for 6 weeks, beginning February 13th at 5pm in Room 263. Contact Debbie Turcola, daturcola@lawndalebaptist.org to register.

Activities
Above the Rim Basketball: Schedules have been posted on the church website. .IN case of inclement weather for practices or games, check online after 4pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday, or call 288-3824, ext 315 for a message. We are still looking for officials and scorekeepers for Above the Rim K-6 basketball. If you are interested, please contact Jimmy Jackson.
Youth Soccer: Registration forms for our new Lawndale Youth Soccer program will be mailed the first week in February. The league is open to young people from the ages of 4 years old through 8th grade. As in the past, the program will offer biblically based lessons and focus on character development, self-esteem, and fair play. The cost per player is $45. Registration forms are available at church and online registration opens February 7th. Player evaluations will be held Saturday, March 19th and games will begin April 16.

Women
Kalos Coffees: "Kalos" is the Greek word for the "good" that God called mature women of faith to teach other women in Titus 2. We will meet the third Sunday night of each month at 7:15pm, beginning February 20th. Childcare will be provided. Contact Donna Navey at lawndalementoring@yahoo.com to register.

Married Adults
Operation Outreach: Sunday, February 6th at 4pm. Meet in the library for assignments.
Every Man's Battle: 8-week men's study will begin February 13th from 5-6pm.

Additional Announcements
Uganda Mission Trip: A mission trip to Uganda, East Africa is being planned for May 7-21, 2011. The mission will include working with children/adults in the hospital, villages and GSF orphanage located in Jinha, Uganda. There is a limit of 15 people for the trip. IF you are interested, please attend our informational meeting on Sunday, February 6th at 4pm in Room 213. The meeting will last approximately one hour.
Offering Envelopes: If you have not picked up your offering envelopes, you may contact Kathy in the church office for assistance.
Inclement Weather Policy: In case of inclement weather, please check with WFMY (Channel 9), or our website, http://www.lawndalebaptist.org/ for delay or cancellation information regarding Lawndale church services. For Senior Adult luncheons and Weekday Preschool, we will follow Guilford County School closing schedule.
Bahama Cruise: Enjoy a September cruise to the Bahamas. September 26-October 1, departing from Charleston. Visit Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas. Cost of $699 includes bus transportation to Charleston. Weekday Preschool Registration: For currently enrolled families and church members for the school year 2011-2012 will begin at 9:00am on Monday, January 31, 2011 through Friday, February 4, 2011. As some of the age groups have limited enrollment and registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis, it is advised that you register early. Registration forms may be picked up on Wednesday, January 26th at Ann Johnson's office (room 368).
2010 Greensboro Christmas Spectacular: DVDs go on sale Sunday, February 6th in the Worship Center Lobby. Cost: $7.
